This is the short, plain-language version of budgii’s privacy notice, written so anyone aged around 10 and up can read it. The full grown-up version lives at budgii.io/privacy.

1. Hi, this is for you

budgii is a family app. You use it to do your to-dos, earn Coins, build your Chain, and pick rewards in the Nest. Your grown-ups use it too, and they see your to-dos and your Coins.

This page explains what budgii knows about you, what it doesn’t, and what you can do if you want your information changed or deleted.

2. What we know about you

When you use budgii, these are the things we have on file:

  • Your first name (or the nickname your grown-up picked).
  • Your age (so we can show you things that make sense for you).
  • The bird avatar you picked.
  • The to-dos your grown-up set for you.
  • Which to-dos you marked done, and what time.
  • How many Coins you've earned, spent, or saved.
  • Your Chain length and how long your longest Chain has been.
  • Which rewards you've claimed.
  • How often you've opened the app (your Perch count).

3. What we don't know

Just as important, here’s what we don’t have:

  • Your last name, unless your grown-up typed it in.
  • Your home address.
  • Your phone number.
  • Your school.
  • Your face (unless your grown-up uploaded a photo of you, which they don't have to).
  • Anything you say out loud. We don't listen to microphones.
  • Anywhere you go in the world. We don't track your location.
  • What you do in other apps. We only know about budgii.

4. Who can see your stuff

The people who can see what you do in budgii are:

  • The grown-ups in your household who set budgii up. Both of them, if there are two.
  • You, when you log in.
  • A very small team at budgii, only when we need to fix a problem with the app and only if we have a good reason.

Nobody else. Not other families. Not other kids. Not your school. Not anyone on the internet.

We don’t sell what we know about you. We don’t show it to advertisers. We don’t use it to follow you around the internet.

5. The thing about AI

Once a month, budgii writes a report for your grown-ups about how you’ve been going. It looks at which to-dos you finished, how long your Chain got, and a few other things, and it tells your grown-ups what the pattern looks like. This is called the Nest Report.

An AI helps write that report. But:

  • You never see the report.
  • The AI never says anything medical, or that anything is wrong with you.
  • The AI only uses your budgii data. It doesn't know anything about you that's not in the app.
  • A real person checks that the AI is behaving, and if something weird sneaks in, it gets blocked.

6. What you can do

If you want something changed or deleted, you have rights:

  • See what we have. Ask your grown-up, or ask them to email us, and we’ll show you.
  • Change something that’s wrong. Maybe your nickname’s spelled wrong. That’s an easy one.
  • Delete your account. Your grown-up can delete everything we have on you, any time they want.
  • Ask a question. Always OK to ask.

7. How we keep it safe

The things we know about you are locked up using encryption, which is a way of scrambling information so it looks like nonsense unless you have the right key. Our servers are in secure data centres, and only a few people at budgii can get to the data at all.

We work hard to keep your information safe. But if something ever goes wrong, we promise to tell your grown-ups quickly.

One more thing. You are allowed to say no to budgii. If you don’t want to use it, tell your grown-up. That’s always your choice.
